Escaping Earth

The massive asteroid "101955 Bennu", which was supposed to pass by Earth in September 2135, had changed its trajectory so significantly that the collision with Earth became inevitable!

The recent space exploration in 2130 led to the discovery of a planet with optimum conditions to sustain human life. Now the Four Confederations agreed to build a large spaceship together to reach that planet and build a new civilization there before the asteroid annihilates the Earth.

But is every Confederation actually working for the common goal, or did anyone decide to focus on their own ship in order to gain superiority and thereby control the future civilization?

Object of the game

In Escaping Earth players build the civilization ship together to send it into space. Each player represents one of the Four Confederations and also constructs their own confederation ship to accommodate more astronauts.

There are hazards, such as meteors and solar storms that can hinder the construction and make players lose their astronauts. The player who accommodates the most astronauts of their confederation wins the game.

The game is semi-cooperative: there can be only 1 winner, but players should build the shared spacecraft consensually. If the construction of the main civilization ship is not accomplished, there are no winners.

Game phases

1. Construction of the civilization ship

Gain a pair of chosen modules - 1 functioning and 1 damaged. Each module is placed face-down. Thus, you can sabotage and spare a good module for yourself. But beware of being revealed!

2. Final preparations

Players start an auction trying to occupy more living quarters on the civilization ship and also build their own confederation ship using spare modules.

3. Lift-off

Players reveal all hidden modules and check if the ship is ready for the lift-off. There must be at least 1 functioning engine, living quarter and the life-supply system.
