OBJECT OF THE GAME
In Escaping Earth players build the civilization ship together to send it into space. Each player also constructs their own confederation ship to accommodate more astronauts. There are hazards, such as meteors and solar storms that can hinder the construction and make players lose their astronauts. The player who has the most surviving astronauts on both ships wins the game.
Airworthy civilization ship is the first priority. If players fail to build it, there are no winners.
While building the civilization ship, players can pursue different strategies:
- Work together to advance the construction of the civilization ship and place the most astronauts there.
- Sabotage the construction of the civilization ship to use functional modules for the construction of your own confederation ship.
- Advance the construction of both ships.
On 27 September, 2130, the four Confederations observed abnormal solar flares for the first time, which were much stronger than before. At first, these eruptions only affected flight characteristics of small near-Earth objects which, however, were successfully destroyed by the international defense. But one day it became obvious: the asteroid "101955 Bennu", which was supposed to pass the Earth in September 2135, had changed its trajectory so much that a collision became inevitable!
Space exploration of other solar systems has led to the discovery of a planet with optimum conditions to sustain human life. The Confederations agreed to build a large spaceship in orbit together to reach that planet and build a new civilization.
But is every Confederation actually working for the common goal, or did anyone decide to focus on their own ship in order to gain superiority and thereby control the future civilization?
