Cryptic Nature is a strategy competitive game for 1-4 players.

You are engaged in cryptozoology, searching for the traces of extraordinary creatures and proving their existence. They really exist in this world but learned to hide from humans very well. Your task is not only to locate these unique species but also to provide them with a safe habitat. Various cities are ready to settle some creatures in their local zoos, for the rest you are building a unique wildlife sanctuary.

Your goal is to become a renowned cryptozoologist and gain the most reputation by capturing and settling cryptids as well as fulfilling contracts.

There is less and less space left where wildlife can feel safe. This is also true for cryptids – mysterious creatures whose existence is questioned by science, since they always hide from humans. You are courageous cryptozoologists who try to find these unique species of animals and provide them with a safe habitat in a special wildlife sanctuary.

How to play

Cryptic Nature Cryptozoologist and Assistant Phase

The gameplay of Cryptic Nature consists of two consecutive phases – the Cryptozoologist Phase and the Assistant Phase, in which you use corresponding player figures to take actions.

— The cryptozoologist is looking for evidence of cryptids existence, tracks them down and resettles them in a unique wildlife sanctuary. The cryptozoologist also supervises the construction of this sanctuary.

— The assistant is raising funds for travel and helps the cryptozoologist to operate more efficiently. In addition, while working in the archives, the assistant can find some important information about cryptids.

Cryptozoologist Phase

On their turn, the cryptozoologist can take the following actions:

1. Move around Europe in search of cryptids or evidence of their presence.

2. Gain evidence and progress the construction of the unique wildlife sanctuary.

3. Locate and capture a cryptid when you have gained enough proof of their existence.

4. Resettle the captured cryptid in the sanctuary or a safe place provided by cities.

Assistant Phase

During this phase, the assistant moves up or down the initiative track, thus changing the turn order and providing some bonuses. When choosing a direction, you can do one of the following:

1. Move down the initiative track and gain available resources from the dice (resource dice are rolled at the beginning of the phase).

2. Use already acquired resources to obtain new or activate already used skills which will allow your cryptozoologist to act more efficiently.

Cryptic Nature will appeal to both: players who prefer strategy, and those who like to take risks and rely on their luck!
