Samurai Gift Puzzle Box - Hints

Note: Do not apply force or attempt to disassemble the box legs at any point.

Look for the arrows.

Start here:

The central part of the lid can be rotated.

Lift the protruding pin and rotate the central disc clockwise. Take it out.

What does the image around the hole resemble?

The image looks like the part of the lid you just removed.

Flip the lid and insert it as shown in the photo. Make sure the central disc is in the same position as when you removed the lid.

Pay attention to the arrows drawn on the lid.

Turn the central disc by its tab until the arrow cutouts align.

What are the arrows pointing at?

Pull up the piece in the shape of a mountain and sun to unlock the circular lid.

Take out the central disc.

Take a closer look at the sword.

You can now remove the sword. For safety, hold it with both hands at the ends and move it as follows:

Pull it right until the guard stops.
Slide it downward-right until the left end releases.
Turn the left end down until the sword can be freely pulled up and removed.

Where could it be used?

Insert the sword into the sword-shaped slot with the ornament facing upward. Slide it toward the pagoda roof until it clicks.

Keep the sword in this position to unlock and lift the outer rectangular rim of the lid.

Take out the key shaped like the top of a pagoda. Where else do you see a drawing of a pagoda?

Find the drawing of the pagoda on the side of the box.

Close the lids. Insert the pagoda key into the slot above the pagoda drawing. Slide it to the right until it clicks — the lid will unlock. Pull it up to reveal the secret space.

Lift the protruding pin and rotate the central lid piece.

Take it out.

The drawing around the hole looks like the lid piece you just removed.

Insert it as shown in the photo.

Turn the central lid piece by its tab until the arrows align.

Pull up the mountain-and-sun-shaped piece to unlock another part of the lid.

Take out the central lid piece.

Take out the sword.

Insert the sword into the sword-shaped slot. Slide it as shown in the photo.

The next lid piece will unlock.

Take out the key shaped like the top of a pagoda.

The drawing of the lower part of the pagoda is on the side opposite the mountain-and-sun piece. Insert the pagoda key into this slot as shown in the photo, slide it to the right, and the lid will unlock.
